Actually the Droid-X keyboard doesn't seem to work on the Eris.

But if it did you would:

1.Go to the link on the phone.
2.Download it.
3.Open Astro.
4.Find it in your "Download" folder.
5.Tap it.
6.Tap "Open App Manager".
7.Hit "install".

And there ya go.

Now if you're going from a computer you replace steps 1 and 2 with:

1.Download onto the computer.
2.Plug in phone via USB/Insert SD into adapter then into computer.
3.Transfer the .apk over to the phone ("Download" folder)
then do 3-7

If you're trying to install an application not from the market, the first step you need to do is go into your Settings>>Applications>> And check the "Unkown Sources" Box. Then you're going to want to get yourself a file manager app off the market (I swear by astro, but there are several). Then you want to download the file on your PC, mount your phone as a disk drive on the computer and drop the .apk file onto your SD card. From there, go into your file manager and browse to the file location, long press, and it should give you the option to install it (or open with a program, in this case you would want to use package installer).

All of this is from memory of doing this long ago, so if something isn't clear, just let me know and I'll do what I can to get you through it.

Edit: Ah, beat me to it Jpc
