Sorry, should have also said, this is a SanDisk card.  All the same markings as the 8GB supplied by HTC (with the obvious exception of the 32 vs 8 number) ;-)

Try  this put the 32 into our phoneand restart you phone see if it mounts... if not see if you can hook it up to a PC and see if it reads as a flash drive. Are you rooted or stock on your phone just to help give me a better idea

Hey frrrrrrunkis, partial good news.  I saw your note ... I actually did try rebooting the phone with the 32 in it, but that didn't help initially.  But after seeing your note I decided to power the phone down all the way with the 8 still in it - then do the swap powerless - and then start up with the 32.  THAT worked (previously I had unmounted, then mounted, without powering down - and THEN powered down and up).  I did see 29.xx free space showing on the Setting menu item.

My next step will be file transfers from 8 to 32.  I'm going drag 8's data to a computer and then drag it back to the 32, but I'm going to do each respective card through the phone via USB.  I don't want the computer touching the card directly at all.

Of course, none of that will happen until I get home from work where I can get to the USB cable ... ;-)

BTW, not rooted - yet.  That's a topic for another thread I'm sure, cuz I've got a ton of questions about that - not the least of which is, "why bother?"  ;-)

Success people!  Went through that little routine I described in the last note and all went well!  As I type this I'm syncing all kinds of things from iTunes via Wifi onto the Eris.  Happy camper!

I adore this phone, but if anybody can tell me how I can now make it faster, have more internal storage, and make it a little wider - basically make it an Evo (LOL!) - it'll be my best friend for life! ;-)

Good news!

faster and more internal memory, requires rooting your phone.  I am a very happy camper now.

wider like the evo, requires a new phone purchase...lol.. Undecided

Now, I did hear over on one of the Android forums that HTC was working on an EVO-ish phone for Verizon.  I've since gone looking for that article and can't find it, but I know I saw it.

Ok, rooting.  Shutter.  Truly the root of my issues?  About the only thing I can say I wish would improve are the occasional performance "stutters" I see from time to time.  This thing used to occasionally spontaneously reboot when a message would send, but that hasn't happened in a long time.

Anyway, help me out with the rooting subject.  Doesn't that permanently alter how you interact with the phone?  The whole interface is different, isn't it?

Yes and no with rooting. Yes if you get into overclock and do other things like that.  No it just like a stock phone with more features. With mine. I am rooted but I keep it simple it the features I like.
