The trackball on my Eris started acting up so bad that it made the phone very hard to use. Since I was in the range of an upgrade I went down and bought the Droid Bionic. Is there a sister site for the Bionic?

I would like to thank everyone here for all your help. Because of this site I got better use out of my Eris and it was running great up until the trackball broke. The Macdroids ROM worked very well and really boosted this phone's capability. I am going to miss having a rooted phone, but I need to learn a bit about this new one before I start messing with it.

Congrats on the bionic, not sure about the sister site for it.  Still keep my eris around for a paper weight and remind me how far android phones have advanced.

I thought about wiping it out again and loading some games on it since my girl liked to play some of the games I have on it. I figure I could open it up and remove the trackball. Just have to figure a way to reload the games back in, If I can find the apk for appmonster I can just use that to load them back in.

I must say the Bionic is a nice phone and very fast, way more capability but the Eris did well once I rooted and put the new rom in it, really extended its life & capability.

Thanks for the link for the sister site  Smiley  I was told when I got the new phone of a few bugs in the software, main thing I see is a buzzing sound when I use external speakers, tonight an update came down so I will see if that resolves it.

I still plan to hang on to the Eris, My girl likes to play some of the games on it so now she can play with Eris and I still have my phone to play with.  Grin

I wiped out the phone and flashed Gingerbread to it from here:

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/03/team-of-developers-release-stock-gingerbread-for-droid-eris-droid-incredible-and-htc-evo/

GAPPS would not flash, something was wrong with the file and it would not install. Under WiFi I found a copy of appmonster's APK so I downloaded it and was able to restore the games it had from an archived copy. Phone works well with Wifi and the trackball settled down a bit. (Enough she can play with it)

Is there any way to install apps from the market on it now? It does not have an account set up on it and I am not sure if I could thinking it may conflict with the bionic's account.

I still think the Eris could be useful if I had a better way to put apps on it. Kinda make it like an Ipod touch (functional with no phone functions and internet only by wifi)
