So I broke my screen and tried to do the repair myself and somehow when taking the LCD screen off the ribbon got slit......i can't freakin believe this. I loved the Eris and wish I would have just dealt with the shattered screen....I'm assuming I can't salvage this.

Try going to some salvage computer shops and bring the torn ribbon and see if you can get a new one or find out where you can

I think I'm just going to transfer service back to an old blackberry we have laying around and then buy a new phone off e-bay or talk to the guys down at the Verizon store and see if he'll cut me a deal. I used to work with the district manager's sister..so hopefully he'll help me out.

So I woke up at 5:00 AM and had an idea on what I could do and it'd probably be cheaper than buying a new phone.

I pulled this picture from the youtube video I followed to replace the digitizer. The circled part is the part that connects to the LCD screen and that is the part that is damaged. What if I bought a broken phone off ebay and used the casing that has that part still attached and then just connected all of my parts back to this so I'm basically just using the faceplate. Would that work? Would the ESN and everything still by my old ESN? I'm just trying to think through ideas.

Anyone know if this is a good idea for me to try? Just buy a busted phone off e-bay and use the front faceplate and put in new glass on that one and connect it back like it is the original....will that work?

I dont know, this is something I would not even attempt to try, with my luck.  Depends how much are phones going for on ebay?  Isnt this because of doggy poop?

Yep, doggy poop caused the whole thing. Phones vary in price and they're about $80 or so....sometimes around $100..maybe I'll just get lucky and someone on here will break theirs and sell it cheap if they get an upgrade or something lol. It just totally vacuums man because I"m back to the blackberry curve...and it's insanely slow and a couple of times I've tapped the screen only to realize that it's not my eris Sad

Buy a backup before they are gone forever.  A hundred now versus no Eris later seems like a bargain.
