It has been rumored, and I'd hate to perpetuate the rumor if it's simple speculation, that the HTC Eris may be considered at the end of its product life on April 1st.  Coincidentally, another device presently known as the HTC Incredible will be taking a spot in the ranks of VZW's devices.

What do y'all think about this?  True?  Fiction?

Well the rumor was on a blackberry site!  Second the date is April 1st (April fools day).  I do not take much stock in it, but as we know technology on cell phones is advancing at a high pace lately for smart phones.  I personally do not see the Eris leaving on April 1st, but as with the blackberry(former user) there will always be a newer version coming up.  Still luvin my phone and not worried.

I have read this rumor in a number of places and I don't really believe it. It is not like VZW to hang on to a device for less than a year, especially one that sells. There are a lot of new devices coming out this year and the incredible looks pretty cool but if you look at the VZW lineup there are a lot of junk phones that can go. As long as we get our update they can do whatever they want  Grin

All the incredible is, is a Droid Eris, with a Moto Droid Screen and processor.. and a video camera that takes 720p video Smiley oh, and a big red plastic back... (fugly in my opinion)

It looks like a great phone, but I'm pretty sure if I wait 18 more months until I get my next upgrade LOL there will be something TRULY incredible available then Smiley

I am happy with the Eris, and am pretty sure I will be for a long time.. and honestly, it would be cool to me if they took it off the market, because I've always liked owning the cool diamond in the rough type things! lol

I agree. I would appreciate my Eris even more if it were "rare." Then it's a REAL collector's item hehe.

Personally I doubt they'll be taking it off the market, but I won't hold my breath.

I don't buy that. Eris is getting better with time. Even when Eris isn't sold anymore, it will still receive OTA updates. Enjoy Eris, the iPhone killer.

Hell there is already rumors floating around about Android 2.5 and beyond. I can only imagine what will change in between now and ...whenever my upgrade is.

There is an HTC Incredible coming but the date is blank.  It's on the "Verizon upcoming phones" thru phone arena.  Here's the link....
