When I did the 2.1 update, I kept using the task killers, and started getting force closes on everything. One week now without a task killer, no more force closes, and battery seems to last longer and phone runs smoother.

At least the results are starting to seem consistent.. one could be a fluke, more is better.  Wink

Smiley some people swear by them, so it is personal preference I say. Won't be needing a task killer anymore. Cheesy

I agree.. The thing is, there are plenty of people on both sides of the argument lol.. And honestly, if someone wants to use a task killer, and they feel that it helps them, It actually may, it just depends on how they prefer to use their phone..
But, I do a LOT with my phone, and for me to be able to do everything without any lag, or worrying about killing processes, is just a weight off of my shoulders! no more force closings... etc.. The only issues I seem to come across are actually TINY bugs with the 2.1 v2 leak I installed or User Error (as I call it, ESO error, "Equipment Superior to Operator) lmao.. but most of the time the phone does exactly what I want it to do with no problems at all Smiley

I also agree. I set up a task killer and used it a few times (I do a TON of stuff with my phone as well) but I found that it really wasn't gaining me much. Now I use it mostly for the Astro Beta Music Player as it still is a little crashy. And I'm still using the stock OS.

haha maybe you guys can help me.

i used to swear by my task killer, but ive heard that by removing it [after getting the 2.1 update] it makes your phone run smoother. because now that ive gotten the update, my phone can be kinda glitchy at times.

i just want to know if my phone will kill apps by itself, or not.

any help?

I answered your question in another post that you posted in. Please try not to post the same question in multiple threads.

To help you out, if you go to menu/settings/applications/running services, you can kill apps there. 2.1 has its own version of a task killer,

try unistalling task killer then turn phone off and on

Have not used task killer since v1 so uninstalled.  Running services is a nice treat with v3 and the OTA and works great if needed.

Upon your explanations I went ahead and removed Task Panel Lite from my phone.  Running without task killer now, too.
Thanks.

Good for you Chewy.  Hope it works out for you.  I do know since removing task killer my battery and phone performance improved.
