The chances of bricking are very skin if you follow the tuto. Yes you can go back to stock 2.1. I will try to get a tutorial put together on loading ota over root.

Sik is correct, very slim chance.  I have yet to read anywhere where someone has bricked their phone.  If I can do it successfully, heck anyone can.

Like the new tutorial, will be some great info for some who may wish to go back.  Pray I never have to go back to ota 2.1.

I agree you have to do what makes you feel comfortable.  If you decide this is the best place to help you out for a smooth transition.

Just an fyi, I posted a tutorial on how to unroot your Eris, it can be found in tutorials under the root board. I unrooted my phone to test and everything worked fine. It took me less than 3 minutes to root with JPC's tutorial and it was my first time with this method! Woohoo for root!

Agree I cannot afford some ridiculous retail price they want to charge for a phone when your under contract.

Pros; faster cpu, ability to delete stupid native apps, customization, no lag, live wallpapers, etc

cons: time it takes to re-decorate your phone.

If your worried you should probably wait, right Chewy!  LOL

Haha!!  Ripley, you do make my nights funnier!  Yes, I am going to root, and yes I am a scardy cat! I am done with this recent program assignment for my Java class, so I might take a moment and root.  You can rest assured I will let you know first, when I do.  Wink
Cheers!
And enjoy the root.  You guys loving it, has made me more apt to root than wait much longer for nothing to change.  Smiley

I will add that if you root and are flashing ANYTHING do not, I repeat DO NOT pull your battery out of your phone in the middle of it.  That would be  the only way i can think of that you are going to brick your phone.  I was reading on XDA about someone who pulled the battery right on the middle of flashing the new radio and bricked their phone.

Nice info darkside.

Ah Chewy join the root wagon, you can do it... Undecided....so you brick your phone...LOL...just kidding. I do understand, when the first 2.1 leak came out it took me 2 days to finally dive in. By the 3rd leak I was on it like, well you know the old saying.

Now with root, I did wait until the reliable method came about, then could not wait to jump in.  Due to Jpc's invaluable help I was rooted in 20 minutes and my Eris, as Jrocker stated, was born again.

If you do decide, get Jpc on the horn(oops guess your nominated), to guide you thru a seemsless transition.
