we had it is 2.1 and it saved battery

settings>wifi> wifi settings, menu>advanced, wifi sleep policy, tap never.

im not talking about wifi
under network on 2.1 there was a always on wireless network setting that made alot of battery difference

i installed juciedefender ......y5 looks like it controls wifi im talking about mobile network

Y5 controls both WIFI and 3G. It searches for "known" wifi networks and if one is found switches WIFI on and 3G off. When no WIFI is available it switches back to 3G. It does appear to stay on 3G when it is sleeping however, not that it matter much as long as only one of them is on.
