I'm having the same problem using Handcent. Seems like every other message fails to send. I never had a problem with it when running 1.5.  Other than that no other problems here so far.

Has handcent been updated for 2.1? I believe that many of the app specific problems are a compatibility issue. You may have some success if you run spare parts and check the compatibility mode box.

I have noticed something that seems to have popped up the last 2 days. I dont know if it is related to 2.1 or not.

I use the standard messaging app on the phone and I use the HTC message widget on one of my screens. When I use the widget is landscape mode it force closes but in portrait it is fine.

I installed handcent and made it the default and it works in both modes.... I also unistalled handcent to see if that would fix it and it didnt..

Any suggestions?

Today for the first time since I uploaded 2.1 I lost total sound from ALL areas. If I shut my phone off then turn it back on it works fine. I'm starting to wonder if I shoulda stayed with 1.5......Not a happy camper right now.

Well that's not good! I'm actively following the root team and they are currently working on reversing the update (for root purposes). If there is any development I'll let you know.

Thanks Sik.  I thought about going back to Verizon and getting them to flash me back to 1.5, BUT they will prob wonder how I got 2.1 and void my warrenty. What to do What to do? What would happen if I removed the update from my SD card?

Verizon probably can not reverse the update either and certainly wouldn't. The update is not running from your SD card, it was just booted from there. So if you remove the update from your SD it does nothing at all, as for now there is absolutely no way to reverse the update. The more likely solution would be to figure out why you suddenly lost sound. If there was a problem with the sound related to the update it should have started when you updated. Have you installed any new apps?

There is an alternative solution...you can run the update again. It means a complete wipe of your phone again but I have read reports of this fixing major issues. Again, I would look for the source of the problem first.

I would consider those to be the source, especially consider any app that may use sound such as media players or any app related to making phone calls or something like that.

I found this in another forum and thought it might be useful for anyone having trouble with the ringtone volume.  I was wondering why I was not hearing some of my calls, anyway I fixed my problem but wanted to share with you all.

"Settings/Sound&Display/ there is a setting called "Quiet Ring on Pickup" which when checked lowers the volume on the ringtone as soon as the phone is moved (i.e. any motion). If you uncheck this the volume stays at whatever you have it set for even when you move the phone all the way until you either answer or it goes to voicemail."

My problem is sound playing music, talking and hearing while on the phone, ringtone not playing. When my phone rings it just viberates and flashes the trackball. When I answer it I hear nothing and nobody can hear me.  But thank you for the research.

I did not even know it existed until today...I was wondering why I kept missing calls.  I can see the benefit of this though.

So, regarding the login issue with Google account.
I updated to 2.1 last night. I booted a few times playing around with settings and each time it would need me to put in my password because it failed to login to my google account...
I woke up this AM , turned on the phone and that issue was no longer present....I did nothing different, I dont think.
Just thought I would pass that along.

It seems to come and go for me. It is completely  resolved for some people after a few reboots but I still have a problem occasionally.
