I've got coworkers on the 44.99 plan with Palm Centros, Motorola Q's, etc. I think it is available to all smartphones. The people at VZW told me that it would likely get bumped to 44.99, but they weren't sure. No one here has BB's, but a lot of people are on the 44.99 plan.

I'm tempted to try it, but I don't want to risk getting dinged for 44.99!

i look at it like this, work email on my personal phone means I am accountable to read/respond when I am not at my desk...who really wants to walk around in "work" mode all day?  seriously?  so the pros are:

you potentially save $16.99 a month
you dont have to be held to a standard because you can not access your email when your not at the office

Has anyone tried the PDA Net app.  I talked to a device specialist at Verizon about it and he said it just uses the Verizon 3G network and doesn't affect anything.  has anyone else asked about this?

I posted this on another thread but here you go..

The BB & Smart phones are unlimited with the $30 or $45(BB ONLY) plans.

The 2gb & 5gb plans you are hearing about are for non BB & smart phones (all other phones they carry). They run fro $15-$30 per month and are limited to the plan you chose and extra charges if you go over.

If you tether your phone then verizon will give you a more expensive unlimited plan. I think the price is $59.99 per month.

If you want to tether without going through verizon, you can buy PDAnet software for a one time $30 fee and use it as a modem with unlimited use. If you can find the older 1.12 version of PDAnet, its free and gives you the same deal.

I use version 1.12 and its great...

Hope this helps everyone...

I do believe that the 5 gig limit applies only to certain mobile broadband plans. Those plans are for laptops and netbooks, not smartphones.

"The Data Plans and Features MAY NOT be used for any other purpose. Examples of prohibited uses include, without limitation, the following: (i) continuous uploading, downloading or streaming of audio or video

So does this mean that streaming Pandora or YouTube for an hour is illegal on Verizon's network?

no, that statement refers to tethering the device, for now.  They can tell the difference in data usage between youtube, LukLuk etc... and tethering.  But also keep in mind that statement is a safety net for them.  Look at what AT&T was saying in December; that they were going to implement data restrictions/charges against "heavy" users.  An identified "heavy" user would not need to sign a new contract nor could they class action lawsuit the carrier as that statement is the safeguard that was signed off on by the user(s).

VZW is mad cool right now unless you tether.
