Hey, if anyone knows the answer, please let me know.

I've downloaded Android SDK, and basically have mainly been using it for ScreenShots.. but I'm noticing a file exporer, with the option to delete files in the root folders..

Can I delete them? like footprints? stocks? quickoffice?
I would like to get rid of the carp I don't want, but root still isnt available ..

Oh now I'm curious and since I don't know I guess I will be testing it out. My initial thought is no, but we'll see.

Give me a little background as to what you did to find were its says you can remove stuff. I honestly have not messed with the SDK much so I'm a bit clueless for now. I basically downloaded the SDK and unpacked it but when I run sdksetup.exe I get nothing. I must be missing something! I also have not downloaded any add-ons. I'm off to do some reading so that I can get this figured out.

this is the link I got the info from...
http://www.simplehelp.net/2009/07/21/how-to-take-screenshots-of-your-android-based-phone-from-windows/

I followed the instructions and installed it..

Then you click on DDMS.bat  not sdksetup.exe and it will open up the program...
Once in the program, make sure your Eris is connected and go to Device up top..
I use Screen Capture mostly, but just underneath that option is the "File Explorer" option, and you can select any of those files, and there is a little red "  -  " symbol up top you can use to delete them.. I haven't pressed it yet though lol..  I am waiting for someone with a lil more dev experience than me to try it out, or let me know what it will/will not do lol.

Mainly i just wanna know if it will allow me to remove some of the OEM apps on the Eris, without needing root..
If this is the case, At least I can clean up my phone a bit before root becomes available Smiley

Oh I'll press it!! lol I may not get to it tonight as I have started working on some other projects for now. This is one of those topics where it would be extremely helpful to have a chat room so that we could put our minds together and work through this without the lag in communication. Anyway I'll keep you posted.

The red delete button does nothing as expected. Now that I have the SDK up and running I'll see what else I can do with it.

you can copy files from the phone but if the permission show the rrwr whatever, you cannot delete it. I tried to add pictures to the wallpaper folder and it was a no-go.
