Hi there -- I recently rooted my Eris and flashed cyanogenmod. I was playing around today (aLOT) installing new apps and moving things around. I have a feeling that I moved something I shouldn't have. Now when I turn my phone on, it just sits at the first screen (cyanogen logo and skateboard guy). I can hit the end button and it will go to the home screen, but it never loads. I would really appreciate any and all help as this is my only phone line.  Cry

Thanks!

It's a boot loop. Wipe and reflash your ROM and it should fix that.

That sounds logical. Ok, guess I should ask some questions this time around.

One of my biggest ongoing issues is that I NEED MORE SPACE. Before I rooted, I was down to maybe 8mb internally. One of the things I did today was move most apps (not all would let me) to the SD card. I am thinking, though, that that is really not taking care of all of the stuff that was previously loaded from Verizon, or does it?

I guess my bigger question is how to kind of start over with as much space as possible. I would not be thrilled with reloading apps, but if it is going to keep things cleaner, I will do that.

Oh - and should the default download location point to automatic? Does that mean that the app decides where to go? I did have this set on external and found that some of my widgets didn't work.

Thanks

Default location as automatic is your best bet. Next time don't move any of the widget apps to the SD card and especially don't move your launcher program (that's a common cause of the problem you are experiencing).

I have experienced this a few times and I simply pulled the battery, put back in, booted and all was fine.

Start the phone in  Recovery Mode.  Turn it off, hold Volume Down button and turn it back on.

Ripley -- I tried the battery trick - no luck

Monty1 -- I can boot into recovery and to bootloader, but I am confused as to how I can get my PC to recognize my phone. I think that the last time I did this, I was in regular mode and used Astro to put my zip file on my SD cards root directory once I transferred it over.

New issue --

I went ahead and wiped the phone and flashed the existing ROM. (Patience has never been my virtue) Everything is fine, until I get to the last step of the setup process and then I get an error message saying that the Setup process has stopped working. In the end, I have to hit the end key to get to the lock screen, unlock the screen and then the home screen never loads, which is the same problem I started with. Also, the screen now says Sprint and I am on Verizon.

Please help!

In case anyone is following this, I did a restore back to post-root, pre-flash stage. (It feels like going back home to see these screens). Anyway - when I have some more time to play, I am going to start completely over and wipe and reflash.

Does anyone know what is the most stable version of nonsenikal that is out there? I know that newer does not always equal better.

Thanks

The most stable IMO is 10.8.1
Some may say the best one is 9.5, specially because of battery life.

BTW, if you are stuck again (hope not), Amon Ra recovery menu allows you to access the SD card by connecting the phone to the computer. This way you can load the ROM to the SD card (hope you never have to use it).

Thanks for your response Adam_hawk -- guess I will head over to version 10.8.1.

Yes, did not have Amon RA prior to this adventure. I can see the error in my ways.

PS -- Your signature quote made me laugh
