I'm sure this is dumb but I followed all directions to root my phone (mine requires holding the down vol button instead of up vol). Took several attempts and re-reading instructions and comments, but I think I got it. The question is, how do I know if the phone has been rooted? I have held off flashing a new ROM until I can answer the rooted or not rooted question.

TIA,
Dennis

Look for and app called quick boot. then use it to see if you have an option to reboot into a recovery menu. If so select it and reboot. If a screen comes up with options in green lettering with things like reboot now, flash from sd card, backup, restore, then u r rooted..

I don't see an app named quick boot or anything like it so maybe not rooted....I do have Superuser permission which I thought someone had said indicated root - so I'm still confused

Ok well if you have superuser, you should be ok. To make rom flashing easier, get the free app called astro file manager so you can llok at you memory card easily. Put on rom on the memory card (not in any folders) then reboot into recovery (you should be able to hold down the power button and get the option) then once at recovery pick the option that says flash from sd card. Find the rom u put there and highlight it then push the trackball and wait for the phone to reboot..

Finally worked my way through and am rooted. Now to figure out how to recover those things I backed up to my sd card using Astro. I flashed nonsensikal v16.1 and need to figure out how to get my gmail and other apps back.

Thanks for your help.
