Hey guys, I'm very new to this whole root thing. My Droid eris 2.1 is running very slow so I went to verizon and they said that I would have to root it in order to put my apps onto the SD card which is barely being used. I looked over all of these forums and many other sites but nothing seems to tell you from step 1. They all start from already rooted phones or something else. I also do not know which "root" to use either, evil eris, froyo etc. All I want to do is move whatever I can to my SD card from my internal memory, that's it. Please help me do this with detailed instructions, I'm at the verge of getting a new phone because this one is so slow. I also have a mac computer and can you be specific as to whether I download these things to my mac or droid eris. Thanks a bunch.

1. calm down everything will be okay.
2. if i don't respond fast enough to my post since i'm on multiple forums just e-mail me at cheatman1@gmail.com
3. evil eris is a dead rom since the dev. will not update it and has quit releasing updates and newer versions. i was on evil eris 3.0 for a long long time. since it came out till just yesterday. i run kaosfroyo v37 which is the newest and has the last 2 fixes that people were complaining about. i would jump right to that rom since it has app2sd and a bunch of other nice features right off the bat. that's a simple rom and a great rom that is probably the most popular rom. you shouldn't have too many problems using it as it's simple and not many bugs in it.

link for kaosfroyo v37 = http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685594

if you want to run evil eris 3.0 just e-mail me i believe i still have the rom somewhere as you can't find v3.0 anywhere. he released 4.0 but it had a lot of bugs in it. v3.0 only has 1 bug which is a gps problem. if you want it just let me know and e-mail me as i will then send you another link to get app2sd running.

^ my post it's complicated on how to get it running correctly but if you do choose evil eris 3.0 or a rom that doesn't have app2sd running with the rom right off the bat i'll help u set it up. my bad for not making a whole bunch of sense since i'm running late right now and have to go. g/l and just e-mail me with any questions or what rom to pick.

Cheatman,
Thank you so much for your help. After a few hours of research and some trial and error, I finally got kaosfroyo working on my phone. It is much faster now and everything seems to be working great. I REALLY appreciate it.
